Syllables - Write out each of your list words.
Clap out the syllables in each word.
Place a line/s in the word where there are syllables.
For Example - pres/en/ta/tion
Tip: Rule for Syllables - Each syllable should have a vowel sound.
How Words Look
1. For each word count how many vowels and consonants it has and how many letters in total it has; Make a list showing your words.
For example: shadow: 2 vowels and 4 consonants. 6 letters in total cartoon: 3 vowels and 4 consonants. 7 letters in total 2. Ask someone to test your spelling with a look, cover, say, check test.
How Words Change Form
1. Carefully trace around the outline of each of your words.
2. Circle any prefixes or suffixes in each of your words.
Where words come from
For each word write one or two words the means the same (synonym) or a short sentence (in your own words) explaining the meaning of the word.

peacefulness - very calm
colourful - has lots of different colours
